Youth Art Month is celebrated in various ways in Oregon.  Artwork by May Street Elementary students was used as one of the many images of student artwork on our PowerPoint presentation.  The program includes 245 images from all across Oregon.  It  was transferred to VHS, CD and DVD and shown on Public Cable Access Channels. Copies were also given out at the OAEA Fall conference. Thanks to Terry Proctor, Producer for Portland Public schools for tremendous help with this undertaking.  He converted the PowerPoint and put it on video for us!!

Click here to view the slide show in it's entirety or individual slides using PowerPoint.

Click here to view last year's program as a Quicktime movie.

Do you want your student's artwork included this year?  Send JPEG images via any format listed at the bottom of the page.  Include student's grade (not name), school name, city and instructor's name.  All participating schools will receive a copy of the final program.

For our advocacy efforts The Council for Art Education, Inc. selected Oregon for national awards the past four years:

2001 "Award of Excellence"

2002 "Award of Merit"

2003 "Excellence in Presentation"

2004 "Award of Merit" and
"Excellence in Presentation"
Youth Art Month was established in 1961 as an advocacy program for art education. The Oregon Art Education Association (OAEA) sponsors Youth Art Month (YAM) activities in the state. Again this year one of our corporate sponsors is Skutt Ceramic Products.
